Come one, come all to the Straw Walk tomorrow! Yes, you heard right. We are having the Straw Walk one day earlier than planned due to the weather forecasted for Thursday and Friday. We want to beat the RAIN!!! SO, put on your walking shoes and join us if you can. We appreciate your support with this sudden schedule change, however, we want to avoid disappointing our students as we wrap up and celebrate our Walking Wellness month. The temperature will be a high of 71 and clear. Walk on!
Mrs. Lawson and Mrs. Tramble
Last year, our school raised over $6,000 for Jump Rope for Heart and the American Heart Association. This year, we set a goal to raise $7,000, and we have already collected $12, 763.10! I am blown away by the amount of money we collected from our small school. Our top fundraising student in the school was Reese Parker in second grade who collected $455.00! Mrs. Handley’s class(Reese’s class) was the TOP fundraising class for the school bringing in $1025.00. Our second and third top fundraising students in the school were Ciara League in second grade raising $360 and Kelley Keith in 5th grade raising $310. Way to go girls! I also wanted to send kudos to the following students whom raised over $200: Braedon Lucas, Dominic Lucas, Cadence Morris, Ryan Jones, Kable Proctor, Clark Hand, Sawyer McCurry, and Carter Davis.
A special thank you is sent out to Donna Tramble, our Paraprofessional teacher in P.E. who stayed with me several long days counting the money and making sure we had the right information to turn into the American Heart Association. She has been a great addition to the gym this year and your children are fortunate to have her in the gym to encourage them to do their BEST!
We are so proud of our students for participating in this event, and making a difference in the lives of other people in our community. Way to go Keheley students and parents! Well done!

March 1-31, 2016- Let’s Move
March is Keheley’s Walking Wellness Month. Students, family, faculty, and the community will join together and focus on physical fitness. We want to help everyone create and maintain a healthy, active lifestyle. Parents, we would like for you to join in and encourage your child to exercise. Let’s make this a FUN and meaningful experience by playing games, or discussing the events of the day as you all walk. Let’s set a goal to walk 10,000 steps a day!
Plan to walk with your child three or more times a week. You or your child should write a note stating your family mileage and turn it into the child’s classroom teacher on a weekly basis. Any mileage walked or ran by a Keheley student, their family members, or friends that walk with you counts. Pregnant women and senior citizens over 62 receive double credit. Mature citizens over 70 receive triple credit. Pets are excluded. We will recognize the grade level mileage winners on March 31, 2016 at the Straw Walk.
