Keheley Elementary School will be promoting physical fitness for students through Jump Rope for Heart. This event will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016, during your child’s Physical Education class. Our students will have the opportunity to demonstrate the effectiveness of rope jumping as a cardiovascular fitness exercise to help keep their hearts healthy. Their participation will also help keep ALL hearts healthy since the proceeds from this event will benefit the research, education, and community programs of the American Heart Association.
An official Student Jumper envelope will be given to students prior to the event to enable them to acquire sponsors. Donations can be made online, by check,or cash. All checks should be payable to the American Heart Association. Donations are tax deductible. Monies are due by October 14, 2016.
To help insure cooperation and safety, students will work together in teams. Each child will jump until tiring, and then pass on the rope to the next member of the team. When not jumping, the remaining students will rest in their designated area. Grades 3-5 will be asked to create a jump rope routine during the course of our Jump Rope unit. If the team wants to demonstrate their rope routine, they will be able to show it off to their peers on one of these two days. All parents are welcome to come in and watch. We will even lend you a rope to jump with your child. We feel that this event teaches students the importance of giving back to the community while teaching them to stay healthy and fit.
